Буквально «кабинет скунса», маленький, часто изолированный исследовательский отдел какого-либо предприятия, функционирующий полусамостоятельно, практически без контроля со стороны начальства. «Сканк уоркс» (англ. Skunk works) — неофициальное название (псевдоним) одного из отделений фирмы «Lockheed Martin» (Локхид Мартин (рус.)) (бывш. Lockheed Corporation) , которое занимается секретными разработками.
